The Westville boys JV and Varsity both fell short despite valiant rallies against Washington Township last night.
In the Varsity game, the Blackhawks fought back from a 57-45 deficit with 6:15 to play to tie the game at 59 with just over 3 minutes remaining. Westville had 2 free throws and another possession with a chance to take the lead, but could not find convert. Kenny Pepper tied the game at 61 with just over a minute to play, but Washington made some free throws to close out the game. Pepper led the Blackhawk charge with 14 points and 17 rebounds. Julian Ellis had a team-high 17 points. Alec Hannon had 16 points and 7 rebounds. Gavin Hannon had 6 points and 4 steals. Andrew Kreighaum and Carlin Young both had 4 points, with Young adding 6 assists and 6 rebounds. The Blackhawks are now 6-4 overall and 1-2 in the PCC.
The JV fell to 1-4 on the year with a 45-39 loss. The Blackhawks used a furious fourth quarter rally of their own to pull to within 3 in the 4th, but could not get over the hump. Cody Brooks paced Westville with 11 points, Andrew Huske had 10, Jack Stacy 6, Mark Bohle 4, Scott Stacy 3 and Chris Bishop 1.
The JV will play at Hebron Thursday at 6:00 and the Varsity will visit Hebron Friday at 7.
