Boys Varsity Basketball · Blackhawks Rally Past LaVille

The Westville boys basketball team knocked off defending Sectional Champs LaVille 50-47 last night. The Blackhawks overcame an 8 point third quarter deficit, thanks largely to a stifling defense that only surrendered 4 points in the frame. Julian Ellis led the offensive charge with 23 points and added a career-high 9 rebounds. Kaden Pepper was the only other Blackhawk in double figures with 13 points and 5 boards. Kenny Pepper and Alec Hannon both scored 4, with Pepper adding 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Hannon grabbed 7 rebounds. Andrew Kreighbaum had 3 points, Mark Bohle 2 and Gavin Hannon 1. Westville improved to 5-3 with the win.

The Junior Varsity lost the opener 33-23. Andrew Huske led the JV with 6 points, Cody Brooks had 5, Brandon Grabarczyk and Josh Wert each had 3 and Jackson Stacy, Scott Stacy and Holden Sikora all had 2.

Both teams are back in action tonight against West Central. JV tips at 5 with varsity to follow.
