News · Kathleen Lopez Joins Athletic Staff


The Westville Athletic Department is very pleased to announce that Kathleen Lopez has joined the Athletic staff as our new athletic trainer. She is a native of Northwest Indiana. She currently resides in East Chicago, IN. She is employed by Indiana University Health La Porte Hospital. Kathleen also works at the Indiana University Health Rehabilitation Clinic in Westville, IN working with the Wellness clientele. She is a licensed health care professional who specializes in the field of injury prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries.
Kathleen is a former graduate of Indiana University – Bloomington where she obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology with the focus of Athletic Training in 2008. Kathleen went on to obtain her Master’s Degree in Athletic Training from Ohio University in Athens, OH in 2010.
Kathleen has been a practicing licensed and certified athletic trainer since June 2010. She has come to Westville High School from previously being employed with Flexeon Rehabilitation. Her time at Flexeon Rehabilition was spent being the athletic trainer for two Chicagoland local high school, Lincoln-Way East High School (2010-2011) and A.A. Stagg High School (2011-Jan.2014). Kathleen also spent time at Flexeon Rehabilitation developing patient’s work conditioning programs.
Kathleen is currently pursing certifications in Functional Movement Screens, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, and Graston (a deep tissue treatment).
As a trainer, Kathleen’s will assist injured athletes return to the playing field in proper time. She will be available for students after school and at all home varsity events. If you see her, please extend a warm Westville greeting!!
